Dr. David Kirp | Dec 1, 2011 | Register

In Kids First, renowned education policy expert David Kirp seeks to reshape America’s approach to supporting children. He proposes a “Kids-First” agenda that can benefit every child from cradle to college. Kirp’s guiding principle is a simple, powerful “Golden Rule:” Every child deserves what’s good enough for a child you love.

Kirp will identify and share five potential game-changers in the lives of children and pinpoint programs that can bring those changes to life. The “Kids-First” agenda, along with examples of how these programs have been proven to work will be shared.

The “Kids-First” agenda is designed to level the playing field and give all children an equal shot at the American dream. What’s more, it won’t break the bank: Kirp has crunched the numbers to show that a relatively small increase in public dollars translates into big gains.

“David Kirp’s book could change the policy debate about how to improve the lives of children. It’s smart, sharp, and clear about what we need to do to lift the kids who need help the most.” – DIANE RAVITCH, Author of The Death and Life of the Great American School System
