Fran Simon
M.Ed.

Currently the Chief Engagement Officer of Engagement Strategies, LLC, her own national marketing, technology development and publishing consulting company, Fran Simon has been a professional Early Childhood educator and a passionate technologist since 1981. After 15 years as a multi-site child care administrator, she ventured to follow her dreams to a new career in marketing and Internet development. In her subsequent positions she developed web sites and online systems for use in early childhood programs and national organizations. For more than 25 years in the field, technology and social media have always been at the heart of her work in early childhood education.

Fran is a contributing author for Child Care information Exchange, an author of a book on technology in early childhood programs due to be released in 2012, and frequently presents at national early childhood conferences. She is the founder and produce of Early Childhood Investigations, a free webinar series for early childhood administrators. Fran has a BA and a M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education. She served as a Board Member and Vice President of the Technology and Young Children Interest Forum of NAEYC.


Karen Nemeth
Ed.M.

Karen Nemeth holds a BA in Psychology and an EdM in Learning, Cognition and Development (research on language acquisition), and she is a a Certified Baby Sign Language Instructor. She is an NAEYC member, author, and consulting editor and has presented at numerous national conferences on topics related to supporting young children who are dual language learners. She is a board member of NJTESOL-NJBE and coordinator of SIG on Early Childhood Education. Karen wrote Many Languages, One Classroom: Teaching Dual and English Language Learners (2009), published by Gryphon House. She was an Education Program Development Specialist in the Office of Preschool Education at NJ Department of Education. She is currently a consultant and website provider (http://www.languagecastle.com) focusing on building appropriate preschool services to meet the needs of children from different language backgrounds. Her prior experience includes work in public school, private school, child care resource and referral/professional development organizations, college teaching and grantwriting.
