In case you were not able to attend the recent NAEYC–PDI Conference in Charlotte earlier this week, you missed an opportunity to recharge and refresh yourself. Charlotte, North Carolina is a beautiful city to host the conference. I was impressed with the amount of new construction I saw and meeting many nice, helpful, and friendly citizens who live in Charlotte. As outstanding as the environmental setting was for the attendee, NAEYC administration out did themselves with the selection of sessions. Of course, the usual sessions that focus around the important components of early childhood were available, but intertwining the very important component of play with session selections was outstanding. The sessions focusing around national, state, district standards caught my eye. During the conference, USA Today ran a story entitled, “Education Chief Hopes Stimulus Will Push Standards.” Another favorite was the sessions related to media and technology. It is refreshing to see NAEYC continue the discussion around these topics. Hope to see you at NAEYC in Washington, D.C. in November. Maybe we will have a special visitor??
