America’s Move to Raise A Healthier Nation of Children

by Susan Gunnewig Posted on: February 22, 2010 at 4:26 PM

Please visit  www.letsmove.gov! Our First Lady, Michelle Obama, spoke to us again this weekend about childhood obesity.  Our nation needs to move!!! Childhood obesity or excess weight is threatening one third of American children.  The nation spends $150 billion every year to treat obesity-related conditions.  Mrs. Obama acknowledged yesterday during her Fox interview that about 25% of youth trying to enlist in the military are obese and are turned away compared to 4% during World War II.

“Let’s Move will give parents the support they need, provide healthier food in school, help our kids to do more physical activities, and make healthy, affordable food available in every part of our country.”

Please visit the Let’s Move website to see Mrs. Obama’s interview and to join.
