Possible Hike for Title I Early Education FY2010

by Susan Gunnewig Posted on: August 5, 2009 at 2:28 PM

The Senate Appropriations Committee approved the FY2010 Labor/HHS/Education bill last week. The measure would provide $163.1 billion to the Department of Labor, Health and Human Services and Education. This is $1.6 billion more than President Obama requested and $2.1 billion more than the House version (HR3293). Much of this increase will be ramped into the Education budget under the No Child Left Behind Act. It is expected that there will be a portion carved out for Title I Early Education. No change in the funding for CCDBG leaving the funding the same as FY2009.

The bill now goes to the Senate floor for a full vote.
